Sand Filters. Pool water is filtered through a bed of specially graded sand that captures impurities. Regular backwashing is necessary to maintain efficiency and ensure proper filtration. Sand filters are known for their durability and low maintenance requirements as opposed to other filter types.
Cartridge Filters. Pool water is filtered through pleated polyester cartridges that capture finer particles without the need for backwashing. You just need to remove and hose down the cartridges to clean them. Cartridge Filters trap finer debris that leads to clearer pool water. Regular maintenance is needed for these cartridges which includes regular cleaning and their eventual replacement.
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) Filters. Pool water is filtered using diatomaceous earth powder to trap fine particles and debris. The powder is added to the filter, coating a set of nets inside the filter tank to trap dirt, debris, and other microscopic contaminants when pool water goes through the mesh. Clean, filtered water is returned to the pool. Maintenance for these is periodically required, and the filter grids may need occasional cleaning or replacement.
